Anyone interest please contact Pierre (pierre@computer.org) Nelson fonseca =================== Dear Colleagues, Here below are some more precise informations about the need of Subject Matter Experts in the area of Wireless cellular Technology provided by Pierre. I warmly invite the technical committees related to the area to help Pierre by suggesting him (pierre@computer.org) suitable names of potential Experts. This is an uegnt matter that requires everyone to feel committed and act promptly. Thank you in advance.Sergio -----Original Message----- From: Pierre Perra [mailto:pierre@computer.org] Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 5:12 AM To: Roberto Saracco; Pierre Perra; Moyer, Stan; Kuo, Geng-Sheng; John Pape; Desmond, Celia; Alex Gelman Cc: Benedetto, Sergio; Doug Zuckerman; Roberto de Marca Subject: Members of the Certification Task Force Here are more details for the selection of Subject Matter Experts - SMEs - to become members of the Wireless Cellular Technology Practice Task Force - PATF First, a short definition of the technology - this definition is subject to further refinements later on: Wireless cellular technology deals with the design, deployment, and operation of cellular networks. It includes technologies relevant to all network elements of existing and emerging systems, from network infrastructures to mobile terminals, and encompasses all layers of the protocol stack, from physical to application layers. Each member of the PATF will have commit to the following: One two-day meeting in New York. Travel, lodging and food will be paid for by IEEE. Time from is October - November 2006 One web-based two-day meeting. Time frame is February - March 2007 A few members of the PATF will also participate in one additional two-day meeting in New York and again, travel, lodging and food will be paid for by IEEE. Time frame is May 2008. There will be a little bit of email exchanges, but the bulk of the work will be done at the meetings. For example, the first meeting's agenda will look somewhat like this. First PATF Meeting (2 days) 1. (a) Orientation regarding the role and responsibilities of the PATF for the duration of the study; 2. (b) Discussion of the conceptual charge for the study; 3. (c) Identification of the key domains of practice to be used to describe the work of wireless cellular communications technology professionals; 4. (d) Delineation of task statements, and required knowledge and skills associated with each of the domains; 5. (e) Review of follow-up critique of work product to be performed by the PATF Finally, here are the qualifications for a member of the PATF: (a) Subject-matter experts representative of the IEEE/ComSoc's membership in terms of demographic and geographic diversity; (b) Representatives of large and small firms associated with wireless cellular communications technology, including supervisors and practitioners in a variety of industry and professional settings; (c) Subject matter experts with a minimum of 4-7 years of experience in wireless cellular communications technology; (d) Representatives of government agencies with key interests in wireless cellular communications; (e) Academics, researchers, and consultants knowledgeable about leading edge work of wireless cellular communications technology professionals; and (f) Participants from major geographic areas (Europe, North America, and Asia) and representative of the key professional and demographic characteristics of the population of practitioners. We already identified several members for the PATF but we need to expand it. This is urgent. Thanks, Pierre |
